Why Kids Learn Languages Faster
Science backs what parents intuitively know — starting early makes an enormous difference.
Critical period advantage
Children's brains absorb languages more naturally before age 12. The neural pathways for language acquisition are at their most plastic — a window that gradually narrows into adulthood.
Accent & pronunciation
Kids develop near-native accents much more easily than adults. Starting young means your child can sound truly fluent, not just grammatically correct.
Cognitive benefits
Bilingual children consistently show stronger executive function, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Learning a language reshapes how the brain processes everything.
Questions from Parents
Everything you need to know before booking your child's first lesson.
What's the right age to start?
Any age from 5 upward is great. Children ages 5–7 benefit most from immersive, play-based learning with songs and games. From age 8+, more structured lessons with grammar and reading become effective. There's no age that's too early — and no age that's too late.
How long are lessons?
We recommend 20–30 minutes for children under 8, as attention spans are shorter and shorter sessions are actually more effective. For ages 8–12, 30–45 minutes works well. Teens (12–15) can comfortably handle 45–60 minute lessons. Every child is different — your teacher will adapt.
How do I track my child's progress?
Every teacher provides written feedback after each lesson, summarizing what was covered, what your child did well, and what to focus on next. You can message your teacher any time between lessons to ask questions or share updates.
Will my child be on camera?
Yes — all lessons are live 1-on-1 video sessions. Every teacher on Unox is verified and background-checked. You're welcome to sit in on the first lesson or any lesson you choose. Many parents find this helpful at the start.
