The old HSK had 6 levels (HSK 1–6). Since 2021, China's official exam is HSK 3.0 with 9 levels. Old HSK 6 is roughly equivalent to new HSK 6–7. If you hold an old certificate, it remains valid — but new applications require the 3.0 format. Your tutor will map your existing level to the new system in your first lesson.
